History of Restland
Restland was founded in 1925.
In 1935, George Young was named general manager. Six years later, he acquired full ownership of the cemetery. He developed Restland as a beautifully landscaped park with the utilization of in-ground memorial markers. Restland Memorial Park has had over 125,000 interments/entombments and has over 300,000 property owners.
Restland's endowment trust fund assures families the cemetery and its beautiful surroundings will be maintained forever.
Restland Cemetery
Restland Cemetery contains in excess of 375 acres, with substantial additional acreage available for future expansion.
The park features include Wildwood Chapel, the Abbey Mausoleum and Chapel, and the Chapel Gardens Mausoleum. Special sections have been developed for veterans, babies and various religions. The magnificent Whispering Waters includes a mausoleum and garden located on the southwest corner of the cemetery.
Restland Funeral Home
Restland Funeral Home is located just north of Restland Road, near the entrance to the park. Built in 1957, Restland Funeral Home is a 30,000 - square-foot, full-service facility, capable of assisting families both locally and throughout the world. The funeral home includes 22 staterooms and a 250-seat chapel.
Whispering Waters Mausoleum And Garden
Whispering Waters consists of three magnificent sections. Whispering Waters Mausoleum, still under development, will include an atrium, sculptures, a fountain and exterior glass walls. The Mausoleum overlooks the Garden of Whispering Waters, a beautifully landscaped green space including a self-contained waterway and areas for belowground burial estates as well as cremation memorialization.
Restland Abbey Mausoleum
Built in 1925, the original section of Restland Abbey Mausoleum was a drive-through entrance to the park from Greenville Avenue.
The first section of crypts was added in 1947. Restland Abbey Mausoleum, which includes a 65-seat chapel, is the largest structure in Restland Cemetery.
Restland Wildwood Chapel
The Wildwood Chapel is a charming country chapel located on the west side of Restland Cemetery. Built in the early 1940s, Wildwood Chapel can accommodate 100 people for services. The chapel is nondenominational and nonsectarian.
Restland's Rembrandt Florist
Restland's Rembrandt Florist, selected by FTD as one of the top 250 florists in the country, is a full-service florist located at the corner of Greenville Avenue and Restland Road, near Restland's entrance.
