Delores was born August 21, 1919, in Minneapolis, MN.  Delores was the first child of Elmer and Veronika Bauer.  Delores graduated as valedictorian in 1937 from Winnett High School for which she was granted a $50.00 scholarship    Delores applied the scholarship money to enroll in Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. and earned a bachelor’s degree in business in 1941. She financed her education by working summers at Yellowstone National Park.   After graduation she taught for one year and then moved to Chicago to work for the National Park Services.

It was in Chicago that she met and married Nicholas Osnik.  Her two daughters, Susie and Janie were born in Chicago.  The family moved to Dallas in 1959.   Nicholas passed away in 1970, but Delores made sure both daughters received a college education.  Delores worked 10 years for Philco distributors, and then worked the next fifteen years for Texas Instruments where she retired in 1989.

She made the most of life after retirement.  She absolutely loved volunteering for the Ross Perot for President Campaigns both in 1992 and 1996.  She became very active with Toastmaster International.  She loved playing bridge and anyone who played with her said she was the best.  That was her theme:  be the best!

She was an inspiration for all who knew her and she will be deeply missed.  She is survived by daughters Janie Osnik Newsome and Susie Hart, son in laws Gary Newsome and Michael Hart, one sister Sylvia Ward and many nieces and nephews.

  1. In Times of Loss...

    Written by: Candice Linton

We pray that in this time of loss,
You’ll feel God’s love much more
And that you’ll find your comfort
In the presence of the Lord
We pray God pours upon you,
    His sweet amazing grace
And overflow your heart with peace
As you live in His embrace.

    – M.S. Lowndes

So sorry for your loss Susie and Dad. Love you both.
