Milton Jarvis

Birth Date: December 16, 1937
Death Date: March 10, 2018

MILTON RICHARDSON JARVIS, JR

DECEMBER 16, 1937 – MARCH 10, 2018

Milton Richardson Jarvis, Jr., cherished father to John Stone and Rich Jarvis, joined his wife Sandy and our Lord in heaven on March 10, 2018. He was born December 16, 1937 in Jacksonville Florida, to Milton Richardson Jarvis, Sr and Mildred Duffin Jarvis.

Milton served in the US Army from the late 1950’s to 1966, in an artillery unit on the German/ Czechoslovakian border during the Cold War. He returned home to the Dallas area where he soon met his forever love, Sandy, at University Park Methodist. He married his sweetheart the following year, when he also opened his arms to step-son John Stone as his own, and a year later welcomed son Rich Jarvis into the world. Family complete, he then joined the Dallas Police Department in 1970, simultaneously earning his Bachelor of Science at Abilene Christian University.

He proudly served the community as a Dallas Police Officer for over 30 years in various roles, including eight years as a homicide detective, and retired as Sergeant in 2001. After retiring from the police department, he and Sandy moved to Holly Lake Ranch in East Texas to relax in their home among the Dogwood trees. They were active in their local church, but his priority was taking care of his wife.

Having been a lifetime police officer, Milton upheld the strongest sense of integrity and honor. He loved his family dearly, and adored his grand-boys, making the two-hour trip to visit the family in the Dallas area on a monthly basis. He had quite the quirky sense of humor, and didn’t meet a barbecue or steak he didn’t like. Upon the news of his passing, the family has been blessed with many lively stories from fellow officers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and bride, Sandy Jarvis, brother-in-law Kenneth Wolfe, brother-in-law John Jones, sister-in-law Vera Jones and nephew Robert Jones.

He is survived by his sister Sally Jarvis Wolfe, sons John Stone and Rich Jarvis, daughters-in-law Stacy Stone (and children) and Cynthia Jarvis, grandsons Jordan Jarvis and Collin Jarvis, nieces Susan Newbold, Lisa Wolfe and Jonell Jones, nephew John Jones (and wife Mary), great-nieces Jayden Newbold, Marissa Newbold, Savannah Newbold, Heather Lesley, Ashley Burk (and husband Terry), Jennifer (Lauren) Fiorenza (and husband Stephen) and Brianna Jones, great-nephew Trevor Duke and Brett Jones, and great-great-nephews and nieces.

A special thank you to the staff and nurses at Oxford Glen, Memory Care in Sachse, TX.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Restland Funeral Home, The Abbey Chapel, in Dallas at 11:00 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
