Edward Frank Schultze

Edward F. Schultze (Peep) was born April 6, 1922 in Queens, New York to Edward and Bertha Schultze. He graduated from Bayside High School in Queens and attended the American University of Washington D.C. Ed began his military career in the early 1940s by enlisting in the Army Air Corps. He entered the Army Military Police Officers Candidate School in August 1943 and was assigned to the 94th Military Police Battalion (Headquarters Detachment) and was stationed first in the US (Florida and Texas) and after D Day was sent to Northern France. The American Defense Service, American Campaign, European African Middle Eastern Campaign and World War II Victory medals were among the decorations and citations Ed received. He was honorably discharged at the rank of First Lieutenant in January 1946. Ed worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigations in Washington, D.C. where he met the love of his life and co-worker, Gladys Irene Ellison. They were married on August 23, 1947. They moved to be near her family in Texarkana, Texas in the late 1940s, having 2 daughters, before moving to Dallas in 1955 where they had their son. They were members of Lakeview Christian Church. Ed spent the majority of his working career for Sun Oil Company until he retired in January, 1984 after 28 years then continued as a consultant for them in the Coal Lab Division until 1990. After that, Ed and Gladys enjoyed full-time retirement, travelling and visiting family. Ed was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Gladys; his parents, Edward and Bertha Schultze; his brother, Robert Charles (wife Edna) Schultze; and sons-in-law Robert Roady and Greg Wheatley. He is survived by his daughter, Janet (David) Tucker (Lubbock), daughter Jean Roady (Wylie) and son Edward Allan (Susan) Schultze (Norwell, Massachusetts). Ed is survived by grandchildren: Cheryl (David) Winkle (Wylie), Jordan (Christiane) Wheatley (Lubbock), Rebecca (Erik) Holt (Dallas), Edward Frank Schultze II (Lubbock) and Robert Paul Schultze (Lubbock). Surviving great grandchildren: Robert and Matthew Winkle (Wylie), Ava, Jake and Genevieve Wheatley (Lubbock) and Jude, Nora and Mila Holt (Dallas). He is also survived by the Allen, Smith, Stavinoha, Trowbridge, and Tucker families as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled to be held on his 100th birthday, Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at 10am in the Wildwood Chapel, Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX with Dr. Scott Fenton officiating.
