Katchhauy Lim
April 30, 1931 - January 25, 2022
Katchhauy Lim of Rockwall, TX passed away at the age of 90 years old on January 25, 2022. Mr. Lim was born on April 30, 1931 in Mongkuborey, Cambodia. He is survived by his second wife, Mony Lim, and their three children, Sopha Coppeler, Sansophanna Lim, and Kamontha Lim. In Cambodia, he rose to the rank of Colonel in the Cambodian Army and led a division of infantry soldiers against the Khmer Rouge rebels during the Cambodian Civil War. Prior to that action, he served as mayor of the city, Kampongseila, and the governor of the province, Kampot. After the defeat of the Cambodian Army in 1975, Colonel Lim and many of his troops ended up in Thailand. He had not seen or heard from his first wife or their 7 children in 5 years and did not know where they went after being forced to leave their home in Phnom Penh. At that time, he registered with The Red Cross and a couple of other agencies in an attempt to locate any members of his family. He emigrated to the United States and settled in Dallas, TX with his second wife. Luckily, as a result of his efforts, he discovered that his first wife, Nem Kang, and their children survived the brutal rule of the Pol Pot regime. Col. Lim is also survived by his children, Vanna Lim Kong, Davann Lat Walter, Davy Oum, Bunnoueth Lim, Bunnchou Lim, Katrattha Lim, and Vanna Kham. Three years later, he was able to sponsor and bring them to the United States. Col. Lim worked for Paragon Group in Dallas where he worked for 10 years before retiring in 1990. Visitation: 10am to 1145:00pm Wednesday February 23, 2022. Service: 12:00pm Wednesday February 23, 2022 at the Garden of Eternity section of Restland Cemetery
