Rachel Escobar Rowe, age 74, went to be with The Lord on Saturday, January 8, 2022, in Grapevine, Texas. She was born to Rogelio and Maria Escobar on November 14, 1947, in Mission, Texas. Rachel leaves her loved ones with unforgettable memories and loving stories. She will be sincerely missed by her loving family, devoted friends, and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved her. She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a professional organization for educators and Gateway Church, Southlake, where she served in the Deacon Ministry and was the only senior female deaconess. In addition, she was a Gateway PINK (Ladies) section and group leader and Care Pastor. Her hobbies were music, traveling, singing in the church choir, and conducting children’s Christmas musicals. Rachel LOVED, LOVED God and people! Her legacy is her love for music, kids and serving people. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Texas Woman’s University and then continued to earn a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling. She also earned a Master’s Degree in Mid-Management Education from Texas Woman’s University and became a school principal. She loved the many trips she and husband Jerry took to Europe. Visiting music composer’s homes and their places of birth thrilled her! Rachel and Jerry also traveled to Hawaii 20+ times for vacation. While there, she and Jerry also looked for opportunities to serve The Lord. She easily made friends everywhere they traveled and treasured the cultural experiences like participating in a Japanese ceremony – all delightful and thrilling experiences. Journeys such as these were exciting and rewarding for her. As a French horn player, she performed in church and civic organizations and directed numerous children’s musicals and church choirs. She also served as a Talent Judge for the North Texas National Teen-Ager Scholarship Program. She was preceded in death by her parents Rogelio and Maria Escobar, grandparents Teodoro and Blasita Escobar and sister Ruth Escobar Koons. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Jerry Wayne Rowe, three brothers Roger & Jo Escobar - Medford, OR Samuel Escobar & Rande Rothman-Crescent City, CA, Robert & Sloan Escobar-Fort Dick, CA, four sisters Bessie & Rufino Lopez - Alamo, TX. Mona & Juan Mojica-Lubbock, TX, Belinda & Tom Bailey - Salinas, CA, Elizabeth Escobar - Carrollton, TX, as well as five nieces and eight nephews. Other family includes C Allen & Shirley Rowe, Corinth, Tx and their daughters Shirl Wills and Sandra Jensen.
