Robert Burdette Mavis' Obituary
MAVIS, ROBERT BURDETTE was born on March 23, 1959 to Velma Shipp and Robert Mavis in Galesburq. IL. Bob was the kind of person that brought laughter to the people he met and he enjoyed many hobbies. When he was younger, he spent time rebuilding cars with his dad. Bob had an avid interest in UFO’s and extra-terrestrials. He was a fan of learning and passing on his vast knowledge. He was also a huge fan of Dr. Who and Formula One racing. He enjoyed reading, primarily science fiction, as well as making designs for his Redbubble/SOIL Company. Bob had a passion for drumming and spent a few years in a couple of local bands. Bob’s most passionate hobby was spending time with his family. Bob commented frequently on how much he loved his family and how proud he was of all of their accomplishments. He was their biggest fan. Bob was an interesting person with a unique sense of humor who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bob was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Velma and Jim; his father, Robert; his sister, Brenda Colleen. Bob’s memory will be cherished by his wife of 16 years, Shanna (Pannell) Mavis; his four children; Lazarus, Frankie Jo (Greg), Ariel and Nicholas: one grandchild, Korben; his siblings, Lisa, Bobby, Randy, Tammy and Carolyn; one sister-in- law, Keyna (Lamar) Richardson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Restland Memorial Park.
