Tommie Potts

Tommie June Kant Grubb Potts, born June 11, 1935 in Cooper, Texas, and passed away March 3, 2022, in Dallas, Texas. Preceded in death by her father William Harry Kant, her mother Clara Etta Lovelady and stepfather William Lovelady. She is survived by her husband, Robert P. Potts, son Gregory Keith Grubb and his wife Lynn, and daughter Kristi Kay Grubb. She is also survived by her grandchildren Clayton Grubb and wife Amanda, Clinton Cody Grubb and wife Susie, and many additional step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by an abundance of loving nieces, nephews, friends and blended families. Tommie was the youngest of nine children, four brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jolly Leon Grubb. Services will be held on March 19, 2022, at 10AM at First Christian Church of Garland, located at 115 South Glenbrook Drive, Garland, Texas. Tommie graduated from Cooper High School. She worked for many years at Kraft Foods before joining Store Decor in Rowlett, a career that lasted 29 years. It was at Store Décor that Tommie met Robert Potts, and they were married in 2000. Tommie loved gardening, growing flowers and especially enjoyed her time with Robert at the lake home near Mount Vernon. She also enjoyed being a hostess for friends and family, and was known for huge family feasts at Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Garland, and often mentioned that her life was like a beautiful fairy tale. One of her favorite phrases was “Hey sugar!!!” She was quite skilled at keeping Robert in check with “NOW BOB!!!” We will always be thankful for all the memories, for her distinctive laugh and matter-of-fact personality, and the love that will live on in our hearts.
