Mrs. Ratliff pretty much took in and cared for me and several other fairly wild and unfocused teen aged kids, and kept us from making some very, very dangerous mistakes during our adolescence. It didn’t hurt that her husband was a policeman. She was there to guide, not push. My life has been better as a result of her generosity and I remember the great amount of time I spent at her home with warmth and happiness. She made me a better person.
