Adair Tucker Mills' Obituary
Adair Tucker Mills, born on January 10, 1933 in Hastings, Nebraska to Evelyn & Dwight Tucker, passed away on December 23, 2015. She is survived by her children Cathleen Holstead (husband Victor Burk) and Coby Mills (wife Brenda); her sister, Sue Dean (husband Conrad); grandchildren Jennifer (husband Joshua), Stephanie, Dwight (wife Colette), and Amanda; great grandchildren Caleb, Grace, Hope, and Luke; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and her dog, Piper. During Adair’s childhood, her father’s position with National Cash Register moved her family to cities across the country. She graduated from San Antonio’s Alamo Heights High School and attended Southern Methodist University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. At SMU, Adair received many awards and honors and was involved in a number of organizations. She was a resident of the Dallas community since 1957. Adair spent most of her career with the Richardson Independent School District as a principal’s assistant and in the administration as an assistant to the deputy superintendent. She was involved and held offices in the Richardson Retired Teachers Association and also in the Brentwood Village HOA. She also enjoyed lunch bunch with her Chi Omega sisters (Claudette, Jeanne, Sally, Mary, Marilyn, Joyce, Sue, Lois Ann, Jane, Lynn). Adair’s passion was her family genealogy. She researched, traveled and met her German relatives and visited ancestral family homes. The family would like to thank her friends at Fountain View of Highland Springs Senior Community, Chris Finley, JoAnn Haynes, Richard Fine and Janet Ver, Karen Coffee, Faith Presbyterian Hospice and her longtime friends: Maymedele Pfiester, Delores and Calvin Davidson, Nancy and Barry O’Connor, Lori Oswald, Mary Ebey, Gloria and Gary Ladymon, Fred Pint and Joy Wilson for their friendship. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to the Adair Mills Appreciation Fund of Fountain View, 7910 Frankford Road, Dallas, Texas 75252. A visitation to celebrate Adair will be January 10, 2016, 2:00-3:00 at Fountain View of Highland Springs, 7910 Frankford Road. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
