Alexander Douglas Anderson's Obituary
An explorer goes on in the soul of Alexander Douglas Anderson. He passed away on February 6, 2026, at age 82, at Beltline Healthcare Center Hospice in Garland, Texas.
Born in 1943, Alexander was a first - generation son of a Scottish father, growing up in a lively, story- filled home. He was remembered by his siblings and family for his adventurous spirit and love of tales. He was especially proud of his son, Sage Anderson, and his granddaughter, Crystal Anderson, whom he cared for with devotion.
Alexander served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1967, completing high- altitude missions as a Navigator and working as a Radio - Radar operator on remote island stations. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the first Award. After his service, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art and Marketing from North Texas University through the G.I. Bill. He worked in photography, stone carving, block printing and carpentry, and later became a Master Class Electrician.
In the early 1970s, Alexander managed Faces Lounge in Dallas, supporting musicians who helped shape Texas country and the American singer- songwriter tradition.
Alexander was preceded in death by his parents, George Christi Anderson and Helen Ruth L'Roy Anderson, and his brothers L'Roy S. Anderson, George Stuart Anderson, and Jon Hendry Anderson. He is survived by his sister, Ethel J. Anderson- Bilyeu; his brother James Edward Harris; his son Sage Anderson; his granddaughter, Crystal Anderson; his nephew, J. Bilyeu; and niece twins, Helen and Cindy Bilyeu.
In his later years, Alexander devoted himself to studying world religions and philosophies and found companionship in the pets he loved throughout his life. he was known for his yearning for adventure, his distaste for platitudes, and his appreciation for the ocean and nature. Until recently he lived in East Texas where he could gaze upon a starry sky with the of his sight.
The family suggests donations to hospice organizations that support dignified, compassionate end-of -life care.
