Alice Mae Brooks' Obituary
Alice Mae Brooks was born in Grayson County, near Bells, Texas, on May 26, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Earl and Jessie Washburn. Mrs. Brooks graduated from Bells High School, North Texas State University and received an M.S. Degree from East Texas State University. She married Randell Eugene Brooks on September 9, 1947. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1991. Also, preceding her in death was her grandson, Cody Ward on May 1, 2018.
She is survived by two daughters and three grandchildren – Karen Elise Jones of Hermon, Maine and daughter Katie Shuford (husband Heath) of Austin, Texas; Stefanie Jean Duron (husband Bobby) of Hampden, Maine and daughters Alyssa Sinkov (husband Alex) of Dallas, Texas and Olivia Kord (husband Lucas) of Winterport, Maine.
Mrs. Brooks taught in public schools for 38 years, 31 of them in D.I.S.D. She liked to read and travel. She loved her family and pets.
A member of the Baptist church for many years, including The First Baptist Church of Urbandale, she joined the Eastminster Presbyterian Church in 1991, and was currently a member there.
Services for Alice will be 2:30pm October 18, 2020 at Memorial Chapel in Restland Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Restland Memorial Park. There will be a time of visitation 3:00 until 5:00 pm Saturday afternoon at the funeral home.
