Allie Kendall Allen's Obituary
Allen, Allie Kendall, formly of Lexington, Kentucky passed away on October 23, 2010. . She was born in Cynthiana, Kentucky on December 11, 1918 to the late Lark and Blanche Rorer Kendall. She was preceded in death by her husband Ermal Allen, former coach of the Dallas Cowboys and the University of Kentucky, and her sister Byrd Binkley. She was a graduate of Cynthiana High School. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kentucky and was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She lived in Lexington for 20 years while Ermal was coaching at UK. She started The Mothers Club and was very involved in the activities at Kenwick and Lafayette High School. She came to Dallas in 1962 when Ermal joined the Dallas Cowboys coaching staff. She was active with the Cowboy Wives, Newcomers Club, Kappa Delta at SMU, and volunteered at Stonewall Jackson Elementary. She was a member of Highland Park Methodist Church for 47 years and chose to rejoin her original church of First United Methodist Church of Cynthiana for her remaining time. Allie was very devoted to family and friends. She leaves a legacy of laughter, determination, strength, grace, and everlasting love. She is survived by: son, Ermal Kendall Allen (Janine) of College Park, Georgia and daughters Ann Allen Simcox (Joe) of Leland, Mississippi and Amy Allen Steininger (Fritz) of Sachse, Texas. 8 Grandchildren: Lark Morgan, Jody Zackas, Mike Cunningham, Kenny Allen, Dr. Jen Cunningham, George Steininger, Jill Steininger and Kate Steininger and 13 great-grandchildren. The family is grateful for the kindness and caring of friends, churches, caregivers and the staff at Chambrel during her residency there. A special thanks to friend and caregiver Dorothy Parker. A short visitation is planned at Milward’s on Southland Dr. in Lexington, KY. with a graveside service at Battle Grove Cemetery in Cynthiana, KY.
