Aloise Boswell Bland's Obituary
Virginia Aloise Boswell Bland born on April 30, 1925 to Virginius and Louise Boswell in Chase City, Virginia, passed away on July 21, 2011 in Dallas of cancer. She graduated Chase City High School 1942; trained in ballet and voice; performed the Nutcracker ballet and sang in church and school choirs. Aloise attended Longwood College; graduated William and Mary in 1946 with a BA in Library Science. She was a member of Tri-Delt at William and Mary. In 1943, Alosie met the love of her life, Lt. David Morton Bland; they married in 1945. She was a librarian at Virginia Tech, and Vought Aircraft Engineering Department. She later became a stay-at-home mom, raising her children. Aloise lost a still-born baby, but is survived by her husband, David Morton Bland; son Bruce and his wife Pat, of Atlanta; her daughter, Martha, of Plano; grandchildren, Catherine and David Bland; her brother, Leon Boswell and his wife Anne; and many nieces and nephews. Her interests included reading, music, dancing, bridge, crossword puzzles, and needlework. Family will receive friends on Monday, July 25, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 3pm in Restland’s Wildwood Chapel.
