Arthur Jordy Riggs' Obituary
RIGGS, ARTHUR JORDY A retired lawyer, born April 3, 1916 in Nyack, NY to parents, Oscar and Adele (Jordy) Riggs and passed away July 12, 2011 in Dallas, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Virginia H. Riggs; and son, Arthur James Riggs. Arthur is survived by wife, Priscilla Riggs; daughter, Emily Adele Riggs Freeman; sons, Keith Holloway and George Bennett; step-sons, Curtis McCormack, Kevin McCormack, and Michael McCormack; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. He received his AB from Princeton University, Phi Beta Kappa in 1937, and his LLB from Harvard University in 1940. Arthur, a certified specialist in labor law, passed his Massachusetts bar in 1940 and his Texas bar in 1943. Some of his many accomplishments are as follows: associate of Warner, Stakpole, Statson & Bradlee, Boston 1940-1941; staff member Solicitors Office U.S. Department of Labor, Washington, Dallas, 1941-1942; member of Johnson, Broomberg, Leeds & Riggs, Dallas 1949-1981; counsel of Geary & Spencer, Dallas, 1981-1991; member of ABA, State Bar of Texas. Avocations: Maya Archeology, history, photography. Memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
