Ava Mae Cook Karner's Obituary
KARNER, AVA MAE COOK born March 6, 1944 Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed away May 27, 2014 in Richardson, Texas. From the moment she became a Mom she never stopped loving, fighting for and taking care of her children. She devoted her life to being the best Mother she could be while meeting the challenges that came her way. She never gave up hope that her family would be fine and up to her final days, she continued to strive to make that happen. Ava was a private person choosing to keep her circles small. She had a dry sense of humor and a quick wit. A smart and creative woman, she had a wonderful way with words and would often write moving stories, poems and letters. She enjoyed being a Granny to her grandchildren often bragging about them to those who would listen. She was a Texas Ranger and Dallas Cowboy fan. She loved Sudoku, and reading books about the old west and early America. She enjoyed genealogy research and writing the history of her family. She received a degree from Richland College and retired from Texas Instruments after nearly 30 years of service. She will be missed by many, but she would want those who loved her to remember the good memories. In those shared moments you will find Ava. Preceded in death by her sons, Bradley Dale Karner, and Christopher Michael Karner; her parents, Dick Hall Cook, and Roberta Vee Cook; and sister, Linda Cook Massey. Survived by her children, La Donna, Kerry, Kevin, and son in law, Manny Nieto; grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew and Sara; siblings, Netta Ingle-Johnston, Dick Cook, Robert Cook, and Leslie McDannald, and countless other loved ones. Service will be held Monday, June 2, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Restland Wildwood Chapel immediately following the viewing. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Autism speaks, or United Cerebral Palsy.
