Barbara Jean Cunningham's Obituary
Barbara “Jean” Cunningham, a lifelong resident of Dallas, Texas, quietly passed away while in her home at 80 years young on March 26, 2016. Jean was born in Dallas on May 6, 1935 to Clint and Essie Swafford. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Helen Bledsoe; and her husband of several years, Jessie ‘Roy’ Cunningham. She is survived by her son, Clayton Cunningham, her granddaughter Rebecca Maymi and their spouses. She also has four surviving siblings Allen Swafford, Jerry Swafford and wife, Joanne Swafford and Betty Sue Winfree and husband, as well as many nieces and nephews. Jean was a very successful, well loved and respected Executive Secretary at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas for 37 years. Jean loved to cook (her chocolate pies were legendary), work in her garden, and take short trips to WinStar Casinos! She will be remembered for her love of family, strength, grace, spirit of kindness and giving. She was a true ‘Steel Magnolia’. The family will be available for a visitation on April 1st at Restland in Dallas from 6:00-8:00 PM to share stories and memories. Services will be held at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland at 10:00 AM on April 2, 2016. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
