Barbara Guarnero Gardea's Obituary
Barbara Guarnero Gardea, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on June 18, 2025, at the age of 75. She was born on September 10, 1949, at Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan, to Oswaldo and Maria Guarnero.
Barbara was a devoted educator for over 30 years, inspiring generations of students with her compassion, patience, and love for learning. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping at NorthPark Mall, visiting the salon, reading, sewing, and knitting. However, what she cherished most was spending quality time with her beloved family and friends.
On July 6, 1980, Barbara married the love of her life, Omar Gardea. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and enduring partnership.
She is preceded in death by her father, Lt. Col. Oswaldo Guarnero; her sister, Aurora Hernandez; and her beloved dog, Chico.
Barbara is survived by her loving mother, Maria Guarnero; her husband of 45 years, Omar Gardea; her son, Omar Gardea Jr. of Dallas, TX; her daughter, Lisa A. Esquivel of Dallas, TX; and her granddaughters, Sara A. Garcia of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Lora M. Molenkamp of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by her great-granddaughters, Johana L. Trevizo, Hayden E.L. Garcia, and Amelia R. Molenkamp. Her loyal dog, Rocky, will also miss her deeply.
Barbara leaves behind a legacy of warmth and generosity, survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends who were touched by her kindness.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Restland Funeral Home, Main Chapel – 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75081.
