Ms. Barbara Gene Kenney's Obituary
Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. Barbara lived a very long wonderful life for 96 years. Although she was very ill in the last year of her life, she always kept a loving lighthearted positive air about her.
She married the love of her life Ed in December of 1948. They met on a blind date while attending OU in January of 1948. They were married 56 years until he went to be with God in 2004.
Barbara and Ed had 4 children Mike, Steve, Susan and Mark. She chose to be a housewife and stay home and raise her children. Mark was a special blessing to the family. Mark was Down Syndrome and Barbara devoted all her love and time to loving and raising a special need angel. Mark sadly left us in 2017.
Barbara was also a wonderful grandmother to her only grandson Brian. She enjoyed helping to take care of Brian as a child and when he got older, she enjoyed long phone conversations with lots of jokes and laughs.
Barbara enjoyed life. She had a wonderful spirit, she enjoyed bible study, bowling, travel, eating out, playing bridge, book reading and going to the movies, and she loved going to the casino with her family and especially her sister Robin.
Barbara will be missed by her family left on earth, but she will be greeted with open arms by her mother Ethel, her aunt Lee, her loving husband Ed, her grandson Brian and her 2 sons Mike and Mark.
