RICHARDSON, Texas – Eveleth, Barbara Gene Manning , 91, of Richardson, Texas, died February 19, 2018 in Denton, Texas. She was born May 22, 1926, to Cyril Gordon Manning and Alice Marie Sampson Manning, in Des Moines, Iowa.She married Leo J. Eveleth Jr. on September 6, 1948, in Des Moines, Iowa.She was a Homemaker extraordinaire, wife, mother and mamaw for almost 70 years. Our mother cooked, cleaned and sewed tirelessly. We always had fresh, healthy homemade food, beautiful custom made clothes and a beautiful home.She was the first President of the Libri XXV book club in 1962-63, Bridge Club for 40 years, Chi Omega sorority, PTA, PEO Chapter DO/TX, Camp Fire Girl Mom, First Methodist Church Richardson and Pathfinders Sunday School Class, Richardson Symphony and the National Celiac Organization.She is survived by daughters, Sue Ann Eveleth Smith and husband , Bill, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Debra Lee Eveleth Castle and husband, Lynn, of Lubbock, Texas; Son Thomas Manning Eveleth and wife Rebecca of Denton, Texas; five grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by husband Leo J. Eveleth Jr. in 2016, parents Cyril and Alice Manning, sister Gertrude Manning Simpson and husband Warren, and brother Richard Manning.Our mother was a strong, quiet, selfless person who sacrificed her own desires for her family. Having Celiac Sprue since the 1950s, we are smiling knowing she is eating a sandwich and some apple pie, with Daddy in heaven.If desired, please make donations to PEO at https://donations.
