Barry Trent Carroll's Obituary
Barry Trent Carroll, 72, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025, surrounded by his four children.
Barry was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas, on November 30, 1952, and lived in east Texas until moving to Fort Worth, Texas at the age of ten. He was raised by parents H.B. and Betty Carroll in Fort Worth where he graduated from Southwest High school and attended Texas Christian University and the University of Texas at Arlington, obtaining a B.B.A. degree in Finance.
Beginning in his teens, Barry developed as a fine musician and was respected for his role in the evolution of the music scene throughout the 60's, 70's and into the 80's in Fort Worth and surrounding areas. Pursuit of a career in finance led Barry to work in Houston where he met Harriet Ann Hunt, his future bride.
Barry and Harriet were married in Houston on January 10, 1987. They moved to Dallas where they both continued their careers in banking. Barry and Harriet joyfully welcomed and raised four children together. His greatest pride and purpose came from the love he shared with his family.
One of his favorite family traditions, and one remembered by many, were the comically staged Christmas cards he creatively designed each year while the children were growing up. Barry spent many years as the drummer in the Spring Valley United Methodist Church contemporary worship service. While drums were his primary instrument, he also enjoyed playing the guitar, banjo, mandolin and more.
He connected with others through his love of music and lifting praise to God. Barry remained happily married to Harriet until her passing in 2017, cherishing their years together and carrying her memory with grace. Since retiring from his career in banking, Barry remained active in social circles of friends, traveling, playing with other musicians, serving on the finance committee at SVUMC, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Barry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Harriet Hunt Carroll, and his parents, Betty and H.B. Carroll. He is survived by his brother, Glenn Carroll; his children and their spouses: Travis and Faviola Carroll, Charlotte and Kyle Deville, Blake Carroll, and Dylan Carroll; his grandchildren: Kennedy and Nolan Deville, Noah and Harrison Carroll; along with many extended family members and cherished friends.
A celebration of life honoring Barry will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Spring Valley United Methodist Church, 7700 Spring Valley Rd. A reception will follow the service, and all are welcome to join us in remembering his life and legacy.
