Betty H. Butler's Obituary
A Life Well-Lived: Betty Butler
Betty Lurline Harvey Butler was born February 14,1932 in Irving, Texas to Henry and Bertha Harvey. On July 14, 2022, Betty (90) passed away surrounded by her loving family and was led to heaven by the sounds of the Fighting Texas Aggie Band. Betty attended Forest Avenue High School in Dallas.
She married the love of her life, Kyle Butler, in 1950 and they were married for 62 years. Betty is survived by her brother, William Harvey; her two sons, Ralph Butler and wife Jean McSweeney Butler, Frank Butler and wife Ann Ramage Butler; her three grandchildren, Amanda Butler Schley, Zachry Butler and Leah Butler Teng; and her 2 great grandchildren, Eliza Teng and Malcolm Teng.
Betty’s was a life well lived. When not attending her sons’ baseball games or working as a bookkeeper for Cheerleader Supply Company, Betty could often be found in a library pouring over microfiche of her ancestors’ records. Her work as a genealogist and family historian led to her eventually writing down the stories of her own life in a book entitled, Betty Butler: Thoughts on My Life. Those lucky enough to attend one of Betty’s famous Fourth of July picnics or snag her annual Christmas goodies box will understand that her true talent was creating traditions and memories that brought joy to her family and friends.
Betty was predeceased by her sister Virginia Harvey Durbin.
There will be a graveside service at Restland Funeral Home on Monday, August 1 at 10 am.
