Dorothy Plumer
Dear Betty Ann- Nah just Hoke to me.
We have seen a lot of life together. From the start you were really more of a big sister than aunt. As a toddler you convinced me wasps were witches, the public library where we received vaccinations was to be a weekly stop and riding Toots flat out doing tricks was fun-regardless of Charlie yelling ###it Hoke slow down.
You were a defensive star on the basketball team that went to OKC for state.
Though pregnant with Lisa you kept me from flying through the windshield when a car pulled out in front of us. Though we both went to the hospital, you got the worst of it by far.
We all got a fresh start in Colorado in a tiny home where we ate in shifts and you and I took turns cooking breakfast as you got Lisa and Lee up for the day.
We as a family were all there when the love of your life-Leonard- came in for the first date. Between Grandad George issuing edicts as if you were 12 and the rest of us prompting Lee to say things it is wonder he came back but he did and the rest is history.
When JFK was killed I walked to your house from the high school and we cried together.
The family grew as Nebraska came along. Safeway, California, Colorado, Texas. You seemed to be an unstoppable road warrior with your grandchildren and Chevy truck you were everywhere.
You made great impressions wherever you went. My children considered you timeless and forever. Your wry sense of humor was always a welcome and delightful experience.
We were together for some tough times that would have destroyed many but your grit, strength and tenacity shown bright.
Speaking with you just before you began another journey will be forever remembered.
Hoke, you are forever in my life and thoughts.
Love forever
Fred Charles
