Mrs. Beulah A. Holman's Obituary
After living a long and productive life, Beulah ‘Hunn’ Holman entered into the Grace of our Lord on Easter morning, April 8, 2007. Mrs. Holman was born in Winnsboro Texas, and was the second child of eight siblings. At the age of seventeen Beulah moved to Dallas and worked as a housekeeper so she could help bring all of her siblings to Dallas where she felt they had better opportunities for success. Mrs. Holman had a distinguished career as a businessperson at a time when it was not the custom for women to own their company and was the silent partner in Ethel’s Dress Shop located in Casa Linda Plaza. Beulah was a strong believer in community service, that community’s were developed and grew by the existence of the small business owner, and that working and being productive was the responsibility of every American. Among her many accolades and achievements Mrs. Holman received from the White Rock/Casa Linda area the title of Business Woman of the year in the late 1950’s; served as president of the East Dallas local chapter of the Business and Professional Women’s Association; served over 25 years as a dedicated volunteer at the Dallas Arboretum where she was officially acknowledged for her volunteer service by the Arboretum Board. Beulah faithfully committed her entire life to the Lord; she was a member at Highland Park United Methodist Church until her death and was a past President of her Sunday School Class. In her passing Beulah joins her loving husband, Ed, to whom she was married to for over 55 years; her sisters, Marlin, Edith, Ann, and Truby; and her brothers Damma and Jack. Beulah is survived by her brother, Grady Gandy, sister-in-law Loudell Gandy, a host of Nieces and Nephews who have lovingly cared for her, and her devoted caregiver of nine years Carla Lawson. Visitation begins Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. Restland Funeral Home, 9220 Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243 Phone: 972-238-7111. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at the Restland Memorial Chapel.
