Billy Joe "B.J." Stephenson's Obituary
Billy Joe "B.J" Stephenson, born on June 13, 1934, in Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on January 14, 2025, in Clifton, Texas. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Billy Joe's legacy is one of love, dedication, and faith.
Billy Joe attended Arlington Heights High School, where he showcased his athletic prowess and earned a full football scholarship from Texas Christian University (TCU), as a formidable tackle for the TCU Horned Frogs.
In 1956, he married Sandra, the love of his life. Together, they built a beautiful family and life filled with enduring love and shared dreams.
After graduating from TCU with a B.S. in Geology, Billy Joe embarked on a career as a Geologist with Phillips66. Ultimately, his passion for helping people led him to a fulfilling 30+ years career as a State Farm agent, guiding countless individuals with their insurance needs.
Upon retirement, Billy Joe found joy in traveling with his wife, and hunting- expressing his passion for the great outdoors. He was deeply committed to raising English Setters, nurturing their skills as exceptional hunting dogs. He created fond memories of time spent hunting dove, quail, and deer in Clifton, Texas, and embarking on pheasant hunts in Kansas. His love for the sport, the camaraderie it fostered, and the connection to nature brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
A devout believer in Jesus, Billy Joe found great joy in sharing God's love with others. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and interactions with everyone he met.
Billy Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Stephenson; and his son, Randy Stephenson.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon and her husband Brad; grandson, Randy and his wife, Rachel; nephew, Kyle; nieces, Laurie, Kathy, and Paige; and many other friends and family members.
His memory will be forever etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith.
Services for B.J will be held a 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 20th, 2025, at Restland Funeral Home's Wildwood Chapel, with graveside services following.
