Bobbie Shields Newman's Obituary
Bobbie Shields Newman passed on to be with her Lord on November 22nd, 2009. Bobbie was born on August 21, 1921 in Mart, Texas. She graduated from Baylor University where she met her husband, Bill. Bobbie and Bill were married for 66 years. After the war Bill and Bobbie moved to Dallas. Over the years, Bobbie held a number of jobs including 20 years at the Dallas Gift Mart. Bobbie’s full time job was her family and she was completely devoted to Bill and sons Dub and Jay. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking new things for her family. Bobbie was very active throughout her life and enjoyed tennis, bridge and walking. Bobbie loved Colorado and the YMCA of the Rockies. For 40 years she, Bill and the boys would vacation at Tundra, the cabin Bobbie and Bill donated to the “Y” in 1964. In later years as Bill’s health declined, Bobbie spent much of her days taking care of Bill. She was an eternal optimist and always believed the best was going to happen. Bobbie truly lived Paul’s comments in his letter to Timothy “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Bobbie is survived by her husband Bill, brother and sister-in-law James and Rita Shields, sons Dub and Jay, daughters in law Mollie and Laura, and grandchildren, Courtney, Bonnie, Melanie, Martin and Nicholas. Donations should be made to the Salesmanship Club of Dallas
