Bobby Jack Oliver Sr's Obituary
Oliver Sr., Bobby Jack, was born on January 09, 1936 in Abilene, Texas to TS and Lovys Oliver. He went to be with the Lord on December 15,2012. Bob married his high school sweetheart Elizabeth Ann Trentham (Betty) on June 4, 1954. Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years Betty; daughter, Rebecca Lynn Pair and her husband, David; son, Bobby Jack Oliver Jr. and his wife Lou Ann. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Michael Pair, Melissa Pair, Hunter Oliver, Ava Oliver and Drake Oliver. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Lisa Oliver Eaton. Bob was active in sports in high school lettering in baseball, his true love, and football at Abilene High School. Bob was recruited by over 25 major colleges to play football. He picked Baylor University because of their scholastics and integrity. He lettered all three years playing offensive and defensive line and kicking. He was named the Outstanding Baseball Player and the Outstanding Football Player his senior year at Baylor in 1958. He played on the 1957 Sugar Bowl team and was invited to the East-West Shrine Game in 1958. After graduating with his Bachelors in Business Administration in 1958, he played football with the Canadian Football League for 7 years at Toronto, Montreal and Edmonton. He was awarded the Jack Russel Memorial Trophy in 1961 for courage, true sportsmanship and clean play. He enjoyed playing in church softball leagues and was active in church. He was an avid golfer. After retirement from football he formed Oliver Sales Company in 1969 which continues today with sales of chemistry to support the electronic and plating industries Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Monday, December 17, 2012 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be 2:30 PM on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 in Restland Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Darrell K Royal Research Fund for Alzheimer’s Disease or Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
