Bonnie Rose Cronin's Obituary
Bonnie Rose Cronin died peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the Oaks at Mayview nursing home in Raleigh, NC. She was born in Leal, North Dakota, the youngest of five daughters of the late Medie Rose (Parsons) and Fred Stephens. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Frank Cronin in 1991, and her four older sisters and their husbands: Wanda Lea, Bob and Lela Uvon Jones, Bert and Reva Pearl Smith, and Nott (Bud) and Ruby Grace Meloy.Bonnie grew up on a small farm near Bethany, MO. To say life was tough would be an understatement. After graduating from High School she escaped the farm life and found work in Kansas City. At the outbreak of WWII she enlisted in the Navy, and after training in New York was stationed at the US Naval Hospital in San Diego for the duration of the war. After her discharge she moved back to Kansas City where she met Frank, and were married January 31, 1948. The young couple moved to Little Rock, AR for Frank’s job, where they had two sons, Michael and Kevin. Another transfer in 1961 took them to Dallas, TX where they stayed and raised their family. She loved being a wife and mother, raising her boys, enjoying the chance to play bridge and paint, and spend time with family and friends, particularly a life-long special bond with Pat and Jake O’Connor. Sadly Frank was taken from her by cancer in 1991, but she continued to live alone in the same house. Eventually, she moved to Raleigh, NC to be near her son Mike and his family. Bonnie lived the last 15 years of her life there.Bonnie is survived by her son Mike, his wife Sharon, and grandson Christopher of Raleigh; son Kevin and Dawn Maley of Dallas; granddaughter Cassie Cronin, great- grandchildren Rylie and Dakota Butrill and their father Clint Butrill; and numerous nieces and nephews. All of her family and friends will miss her deeply. Rest in Peace. The family would like to express thanks to Dr. Dunlap of the Oaks at Mayview, and the staff of Transitions HospiceCare for their compassion and care.A memorial mass and burial will be held at Restland Funeral Home, Wildwood Chapel, on February 17th at 10 A.M. Address 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. Following, the family will receive friends at the home of Pat O’Connor. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Cistercian Preparatory School in Irving, TX, to the Fr. Roch Kereszty Scholarship Fund. www.cistercian.org
