Bonnie Jean Ethridge's Obituary
Bonnie Jean Garber Ethridge, age 85, died after a short illness on March 11, 2017, in Dallas, Texas. Bonnie is survived by her son, Bobby Ethridge, of Dallas, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Ray Brown, of Dallas, Texas; grandson, Bentley Brown, of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Aaron and Melinda Brown, of Sterling, Kansas; niece, Jean Magness, of Marble Falls, Texas; greatnephew and wife, Brian and Ginger Jones, of Marble Falls, Texas; and great greatnephews, Jordan, Easton, and Garen Jones, of Marble Falls, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Ethridge, of Dallas, Texas; sister, Ann Bowen, of Greenville, Texas; and brother, T. R. Garber, Jr., of Greenville, Texas. Bonnie was born on September 7, 1931, in Greenville, Texas, to parents T. R. and Elizabeth Moore Garber. She graduated with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from East Texas State Teachers College and moved to Dallas to accept a position as a teacher in the Dallas Independent School District, where she served for 34 years. Teaching was her passion and she loved her students and fellow teachers. Bonnie was a great wife and a loving mother. She married Robert Ethridge in 1960 and the couple had 2 children together. Bonnie was actively involved in her children’s lives, serving in various roles in PTA and Band Boosters. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma teacher society and a member of First Baptist Church Dallas. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, March 17, from 6 – 8 pm at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas. The funeral service for Bonnie will be Saturday, March 18, at 2:30 pm at Restland Funeral Home with the burial and reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bonnie’s life. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
