Many years have passed, but not without loving/fond memories of our time with this family at FBOC. Bruce was always gracious and genuine friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
My mom and dad, Daisy and Jim Wehe, loved Bruce Bowles. I am grateful to him most recently because two years ago after my mom and dad died, he helped me by taking away two carloads full of old computer hardware of my dad’s.I’m sorry for your loss. Such a lovely man.
Nancy and I were saddened by the news of Bruce’s passing. Bruce was one of the first people we met when we visited Gaston Oaks BC. His friendliness with us and our children continued Throughout our friendship. Whenever we met, He and I would always spar to be the one with the most or best humorous retort in the conversation. A man of integrity with a strong Christian focus on spreading God’s work. The funeral service presented a good “picture “ of Bruce for anyone who didn’t know him well.
I met Bruce when I was assigned at the NE Patrol Division of the Dallas police department as a Community relations officer. Bruce was stellar and stood out right away. He taught me so much about service to other . His dedication to his community and to the Police department was unfailing. Bruce was a person that enjoyed service and he understood that a connection and service to others, increases our connection to God. We all have something to share with others , Bruce was very talented and intelligent but he never shied away from any task or request. It was very simple ,he gave of himself and he did it with elegance, grit and grace. I was so impressed and inspired by him.To his family I want to say “Thank you for sharing him with us.” I know there were times when he was stretched thin by his volunteer work and felt concerned for his family, he did not want to fall short or let them down. I will always remember him and hope to follow in his footsteps of service. Sheila Greene
One of my favorites. Loved Bruce, with his bright humor. Blessed to work with him for several years. Miss his smile and congenial attitude. Great man.
My Dad, Dr. Arthur K. Tyson, was very fond of Brother Bowles, and was very appreciative of his hard work for Texas Baptists! A life well lived! My sympathy to the family!
My parents, Dick & Sue Jennings, join me and my wife in expressing our prayers for our dear friends from the past. I loved your dad who was an inspiration and encouragement to me as I began my ministry at FBC Dallas years ago. Our friendship with your family (and the Doziers) while we were members at FBC Oak Cliff provides fond memories. Kent Jennings Austin, Texas
So many good memories of our early ministry years ago at FBOC. Bruce was such a help and a blessing to Judy and I in our first full time ministry position. Heaven has opened up to receive one of God’s finest! Judy and Jerry Neill
Our hearts and prayers go out to the Bowles family and friends! Brother Bruce Bowles was used by God mightily to bless the nations around the world in advancing the gospel of Jesus. On a personal note, he was the angel that God used to bless Bethel’s Family Baptist Church in Houston by financing our first real facility for ministry back in 1999. Today our church have over 13000 members and have sent over 1700 people to serve on international missions!Jesus says, Well done my good and faithful servant, you have been faithful over a few things, come and I will make you ruler over many things!Pastor Walter August Jr. Houston, Texas
Cindy, how proud you must be of your father and the example he was to those around him! I enjoyed knowing him briefly and I was so impressed with the way he cared for his family. “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.” – Jim Elliot
