Bryan Joseph Doss' Obituary
Bryan Joseph Doss, 41, died Monday, October 19, 2020, in Garland, Texas. Bryan passed away, peacefully, at his home, after several years of battling diabetic health issues. Bryan was born November 2, 1978 in Dallas, Texas. He attended L.V. Berkner High School in Richardson and the University of North Texas in Denton. Bryan worked with his father at Trinity Insulation Co. where he specialized as an estimator and project manager for the past twenty-four years. He also served on the board of directors for the International Cold Storage Contractors Association. Bryan was an athlete who excelled in football and baseball, as well as other sports. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with his family at their deer lease in East Texas. He was a gourmet cook and had the amazing talent to precisely recreate dishes he enjoyed when dining out. Bryan’s charismatic personality gave everyone the feeling there were no strangers left in the room. His best trait was his loyalty to friends and family that was unsurpassed. If you were Bryan’s friend, you knew he always had your back.
He is survived by his teenage son Benjamin Joseph Doss of Garland, Texas; parents, John Joseph Doss and Diane Latham Doss of Richardson, Texas; older brother, John Monroe Doss, John’s wife Shannon Harris Doss, and their children Katherine Monroe Doss and John Stephen Doss of Wylie, Texas; grandmother, Alvera Lujan Latham of Longview, Texas; uncles, Daniel Doss of Carrolton, Texas and David Doss of Watertown, South Dakota; aunts, Linda Latham Williams of Longview, Texas, Cynthia Doss Davis of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Janet Doss Gumbert of Carrolton, Texas, and Patricia Doss Schliesman of Omaha, Nebraska; and longtime companion Katie James of Garland, Texas.
Bryan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents John Dow Doss and Yvonne Pauline O’Dea Doss who had lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota; his maternal grandfather Monroe Jackson “Pop” Latham who had lived in Longview, Texas, and his uncle Larry Stephen Doss who had lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Visitation will take place at Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas on Thursday, October 29 from 4:00 – 5:00, with the Rosary beginning at 5:00. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 30, 1:30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church located at 600 South Jupiter Road, Richardson, Texas. Graveside services will be held, Monday November 2, 2:00 at Gum Springs Cemetery located at 2585 Gum Springs Road, Longview, Texas. He will be laid to rest at the foot of his beloved “Pop” Monroe Latham.
The outpouring of support from family and friends has been greatly appreciated by all of us during this difficult time. The family welcomes flowers and requests any donations be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Richardson, Texas.
