Carolyn Gay Knox's Obituary
KNOX, CAROLYN Born December 16, 1944 and passed away July 15, 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Lillian Knox and her beloved brother, William David Knox. Survived by nephew David Knox, niece Kim Whatley, great nephew Evan Whatley, aunt Opal Barnette and a host of great friends. Carolyn attended Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1963. Graduated with master’s degrees from Southern Methodist University and Amberton University. Carolyn was chairman of Legacy Counseling and The Foundation Benefitting Legacy. She was a founding director of Doris Daniely Outreach and Legacy Founder’s Cottage. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for 43 years. For 6 years she was chairman of Panel 1A of the State of Texas Bar Association Grievance Committee and group leader for American Cancer Society Life After Loss programs. She was also active in variety of animal rescue organizations. Carolyn taught at Stephen F. Austin State University, The Dallas Police Department and Richland College. She was employed by Knox Concession at Ruidoso Downs Race Track and The State Fair of Texas. She was head of the loan department of Texas Commerce Bank for 7 years, co-owner of Metro North Gold and Silver and Colonial Pawn. She was also employed by The Jewelry Forrest. Honorary pallbearers are: Jerry Forrest, Rod Bray, Richard Condon, Mike Whatley, Noble Cross, Robert Hinojo and Carl Pool. A memorial service will be held at Restland’s Memorial Chapel on Saturday, July 19th at 12:30 pm
