Catherine Hays' Obituary
Catherine Hunter Hays went to be with the Lord Friday, April 4, 2025. She was born June 12, 1950, in Stillwater, Oklahoma to her beloved parents Richard and Earline Hunter. Cathy’s favorite years of her life were in Stillwater.
Being outside was her very favorite thing. She loved running through the fields as a child and being in the fresh open air. She could never get enough of swimming, being in the sun, and enjoying any tranquil beachside.
Cathy acquired a great love for plants from her father. She kept many plants in her house and could keep any plant alive. At the time of her death, she had a 40-year-old geranium.
All her life, Cathy had a furry companion. Her dogs were her favorite. She always had at least one or two dogs by her side. Big or small, she loved them all.
She gave her life to the Lord in 1991. From that point on, Cathy was obsessed with Bible studies. Ladies who loved the Lord became her comfort. She spent much of her time pouring over God’s Word and fellowshipping with other believers.
Her daughters, Tiffany and Sarah, say that their mom loved them fiercely. She had a passionate affection for her daughters. “We were her happiness and her joy.” When they were young, she rubbed their backs and sang as they fell asleep. They always had to give her a hug and kiss when they came through the door. If her daughters were ever being wronged, she would fight to protect them.
Cathy’s love language was gifts, so she loved nothing better than to shower gifts and affection on those dear to her. She especially gave with all her heart to her grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. Cathy was absolutely thrilled when her family came to visit. She always asked questions and wanted to know what was going on in their lives. It was the highlight of the visit just to sit and talk. It gave her great joy to be host for the family holiday gatherings. She would buy so much food and want to cook huge meals, just to make everyone happy!
Cathy is survived by her cherished daughters, Tiffany (Ryan) and Sarah (Danny). She also leaves behind her precious grandchildren: Kristina, Drew, Caitlynn, and Cayden. Her brother Richard survives her, but she has been reunited with her dear sister, Margie. Her nieces and nephews: Hannah, Emily (J.B.), and David (Shelby) will miss her greatly. She also leaves behind her brother-in-law, Dave, and her great nieces and nephews, who loved her as a grandmother.
For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.—Jeremiah 29:11
“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.—John 14:1-3
