Charles Brown's Obituary
Monday’s child is fair of face, and Charles Frank Brown was exactly that when he made his entrance into the world on Monday, December 9th, 1935, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. The third child of Charles Franklin Brown and Genevieve Shea Brown, he grew up in Dallas with his two sisters, Pat and Kathleen. Charles attended Holy Trinity Grade School, then Christ the King Grade School after that. An avid reader who excelled in school , Charles graduated from Jesuit High School and went on to earn an electrical engineering degree from SMU in 1959, where he was a member of the electrical and computer engineering honor society, Etta Kappa Nu. While attending SMU he met the love of his life, Gay Holcomb, an SMU Student and a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. They were married on Saturday evening, March 26th, 1960, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Dallas. Charles worked for many years as a computer programmer; working for the City of Dallas and then EDS, and finally working as a computer consultant until his retirement. He was a good cook who loved to make steaks on the grill, cook homemade pizza, and make his own bread. Spaghetti was one of his specialties and he would always serve that dish upon the birth of a new child and would end up serving 12 plates during his marriage to Gay. He had a very nice singing voice and also played the guitar from time to time. During the last 2 years of his life, he was a resident at Brentwood Nursing Home, where he passed away on September 22nd, 2016. He is survived by his ex-wife, Gay, his sisters Kathleen Gardner and Patricia Currin , and his 12 children: Angela Caisse, Michael Brown, Paul Brown, Mary Hart, Catherine Johnson, Erin Brown, Amy Brown, Allison Clark, Tim Brown, Laura Sherrell, John Brown, and Caitlin Brown and 6 grandchildren.
