I am a long-time friend of Charles' wife Jane since out freshman year at OU. I first met Charles when I visited in August 2022. He was just as everyone has described, intelligent, very personable,and charming with a droll sense of humor. We hit it off right away. The first morning after I arrived, I went to the kitchen to make the coffee. Charles came in shortly after and, seeing the coffee already on, he looked down shaking his head mumbling under his breath as he knew that I, being a girl, couldnt have made it as he liked it. He took a sip then a broad smile came over his features -- it was STRONG! Then, looked down again, still smiling, he walked away mumbling my coffee was too good, he was out of a job . . .
However, when I returned for the 2023 Christmas holidays, no matter how early I got up, the coffee was already made! I became very fond of him and miss him dearly.
Sincere and heartfelt condolences to family. I met Charlie in 1976 when I joined the Dallas Landmen's association. He was always fun to talk to and both my husband Herb and I enjoyed conversations with Jane and Charlie at landman events through the years. Charlie was clearly highly intelligent and experienced in oil and gas, but down to earth and entertaining. I know he will be greatly missed by many!
I will treasure the time we got to spend with you on our last trip over.
