Charles Donald Swick of Richardson, Texas went to be with his Lord on Friday, January 7, 2022. He was Minister of Music for over 30 years, serving churches in Houston, Texas, Granite City, Illinois and in Dallas,Texas at Lakewood Read Obituary
I am so saddened to hear that this amazing person has left this physical world. He mentored me in real estate and was truly a gracious and helpful soul with so much joy and wisdom to share. I knew Charles over the last several years working at Restland. He loved people and took his position of serving others very seriously. If you knew Charles you knew he LOVED music and his family (not necessarily in that order). He would share pictures of his family and now proud of their accomplishments, especially in music abilities. He was a very kind gentleman that always had a smile and likes wearing a dapper jacket and top hat on occasion. Will always be glad we shared our lives during that time. Condolances to his wife of so many years, children and grandchildren. He was a gem and will certainly be missed!
From the moment he joined the staff of Hillcrest Church, Charles and I were wonderful friends. I treasured his friendship, his love for the Lord, and his musicianship. I last saw him at the wake for his brother-in-law, Allen Groff, and was honored to see that he remembered me despite the memory challenges he had at that time. He was a prince of a man and I am so honored to be able to call him my friend. Yvonne: I’m praying for you and all of your family as you grieve this loss and celebrate the life of Charles. So many great memories with Charles and the Hillcrest choir. He challenged me to grow as a Christian and a musician, and provided opportunities for both. His gentle, joyful spirit infused his music and leadership. Holding all his friends and family in my heart and prayers.
The worship services that Charles led at Hillcrest Church were the best I have ever had in my entire life. I miss them and his talent so much! He was given a gift and it was a blessing to so many people!
So very very good memories of Charles leading the Hillcrest Church choir. The brightest one was one there was a funeral service for the professor of music at SMU in our church. A host of his former voice students were in the choir that Charles led in the hallelujah chorus. I worked part time in the office in those days and Charles was on air for a whole week!
