Charles Patterson ‘Pat’ Worrell, 78, passed away March 8, 2019 in Lewisville, Texas. at was born May 28, 1940 in Beeville, Texas to M.E. and Lucille Worrell. Born into the road construction business, Pat grew up all over South and Central Texas, attending 23 schools before settling in Dallas for the 6th grade. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1958, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard before attending Texas Tech University and UT Arlington.In 1963, he married the love of his life, Dora Louise Sherman. They settled and started a family in Dallas. His budding career moved them to Lewisville where he was Vice-President of Navarro Contracting Company before taking a position with J.D. Abrams, where he retired in 2012 as Senior Vice-President, Dallas Area, after 35 years with the company. Pat was a respected leader in his industry and his career left visible testimony to this via many highways, interchanges, and bridges around the Metroplex.An avid outdoorsman, Pat enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf. His fishing trips took him from Canada to the Amazon, and he golfed all over the United States. But he mostly enjoyed time at the deer lease in Central Texas with his children, family, and dear friends. As a grandfather he shared his passion for fishing with his grandchildren while he and Dora spent time with them at ‘The Bayhouse’ and on the water in Port Mansfield, Texas. Pat took great pride in his children’s and grandchildren’s many accomplishments and was especially proud of his son Matthew’s service and sacrifice as an Army Aviator with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment.He is preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Eugene Worrell, Jr. and Lucille Patterson Worrell, his brother Gene Worrell, his sister, Patricia Boudoin, and his son Major Matthew Wade Worrell (KIA, Iraq 2006).He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dora Sherman Worrell; his daughter and son-in-law, Wendy & Cody Scogin; daughter-in-law Camille Worrell Blevins; grandchildren, Bailey Anne Scogin, William Jack Scogin, Jake Dillon Worrell, and Luke Sherman Worrell; also, his brother-in-law, Peter Alan Sherman and wife Virginia; sister-in-law Susan Sherman Blackwood; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.Funeral Service will be Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 10:30 AM in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243. There will be a Celebration of Life Reception immediately after the interment at Restland Event Center.
