I have known Chris since Junior High school, we both shared a love for Trans Am’s. He would come to my service station at Arapaho/Coit when they were actually full service stations and we would work on his car and mine. He always had a smile and had a contagious laugh. I also got to see Chris time to time at meetings and we would pick up like we saw each other yesterday. I will miss him a lot… great guy.. great friend… My prayers are out to his family.

So the Grote family obtained tickets to the Rangers game at the Ballpark in Arlington. We get there as soon as the gates open because even the pregame stuff is exciting to certain family members, and we don't go to many games. There is a special roped off area next to home plate, for some VIPs. There was a small crowd of photographers, Rangers reps, etc. O - who could that be? We were very curious, offering several suggestions. The special guest stepped out to some fanfare - Chris Gamell with his son Trevor - OUR NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORS. We knew the Gamells were VIPs, apparently so did the Texas Rangers.

I first met Chris "Hollywood" when I joined the Sherwin Williams company in 1989. He was always there to help with anything and everything and we stayed friends throughout the years. Never will you meet a nicer man than Chris. My thoughts and prayers go to his family in their time of mourning.
