Gene Clifford Springer's Obituary
Springer, Gene C. was surrounded by his family when he went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 15, 2009. His battle with cancer was brief after a diagnosis only six weeks earlier. Born on August 16, 1928 in East St. Louis, Gene was a retired insurance agent and a lifetime athlete who enjoyed good health and loved skiing, biking, traveling, dancing and spending time with family and friends. His gregarious personality and fun loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Gene was preceded in death by his first beloved wife, Rosalind Shelley Springer. His survivors include their four children, a daughter, Shelley Springer Mullins, and sons, Mark Springer, Matthew Springer and Brian Springer, six grandchildren and eight great -grandchildren. Gene is also survived by his dear wife and dance partner Barbara Jarvis Springer who tenderly cared for him. A memorial service to celebrate Gene’s life will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 3 pm. It will take place at Northway Christian Church, where he was a member. The church is located at 7202 Northwest Highway in Dallas, Texas. Reception will immediately follow. Flowers may be sent to the church or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
