Curtis Laughlin Jones' Obituary
JONES, CURTIS ‘CHUCK’ LAUGHLIN January 5, 1935 – May 23, 2008. There are ordinary people who come into our lives and stamp their memories on our hearts. Chuck Jones was such a man. Born January 5, 1935 the last child of twelve to Louis Spencer Jones and Abbie Lee Taylor, he attended Waco Public Schools and graduated from A.J. Moore High School and Paul Quinn College. Mr. Jones worked for General Dynamics (Waco) for six years and Ciba-Geigy Pharmaceuticals for twenty-seven years. Upon retirement, he joined the HomeBank (Buckner Branch) until his illness prevented his continued service. A lover of all-things natural, he worked miracles with his handy work. There were no tasks too hard for Chuck to creatively design, construct, and/or embellish. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Louis ‘Bubba’ Wiley Jones and Jack Jones; and sisters, Cleo Jones-Burse, Jean Jones-Evans and Abbie Jones-Booker. Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Eikner-Jones; daughter, Teresa Jones Mays (husband, Kenneth) and three grandchildren (Ozie, Keena, and Kendell); four sisters, Martha ‘Buck’ Lewis, Juanda L. Boyce, Melba J. Walker, and Irma F. Coleman (husband, Willie); two brothers, Dennie Jones (wife, Willa), Isaac ‘Ike’ Jones (wife, Katie); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A memorial service celebrating the Life of Curtis ‘Chuck’ Laughlin Jones will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Restland Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY, 8900 Carpenter Freeway, Dallas, TX 75247, 800-227-2345.
