Daun Michelle Kopca's Obituary
Daun Kopca, a beloved mother, partner, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away on July 1st, 2025, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 66.
Born on January 30th, 1959, in Charleston, South Carolina, to William and Aimee Popajohn, Daun lived a life filled with compassion, creativity, and a deep love for her family and community. She was a gifted teacher who touched countless lives with her wisdom, patience, and unwavering dedication to her students.
Daun is survived by her loving partner, Randy Rekow, and her four daughters; Samantha Kopca (Princeton, TX); Meredith Naghwai (Garland, TX); Natalie Tischler (Flower Mound, TX); and Allison Taylor (Windsor, CO). She also leaves behind her cherished sister, Lisa Robinson (New Jersey), and her adored grandchildren; Reese, Ellie, Abigail, Charlotte, Jonah, and Olivia.
Daun found joy in the simple pleasures of life – reading a good book, knitting and sewing with care, and watching her favorite show, House. She was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends, sharing laughter, stories, and love.
Her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Though she has left this world, her legacy of love and learning lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30AM at the Restland Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Friday, July 18th, 2025.
