David Carl Eckenfels, 74, of Garland, Texas, passed away on January 14, 2019 in Rowlett, Texas. He was born on February 17, 1944, to Carl and Jessie Eckenfels in Dallas, Texas.David married the former Karen Hancock on April 26, 1964 in Hutchins, Texas.He was a self-employed mechanic.David also served his country in the United States Air Force and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant during his tenure.David was preceded in death by his parents.He is survived by: his wife, Karen, of Garland; his daughters, Dena Nichols and Elizabeth Johnson of Hutchins, TX and Kathryn Anderson of Mesquite, TX; his sons, David Eckenfels, II, of Garland, TX and Andrew Jay Eckenfels of Kailua, Hawaii; his sisters, Jannette Redmon of Kennedale, TX, and Teresa Cason of Forney, TX; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and extended family and friends.Funeral services will commence at 2PM on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at the New Liberty Baptist Church, 333 W. Centerville Road in Garland, Texas, with interment following in Restland Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
