The Day My Brother Died
March 1, 2021
My Big Brothers have always been my Hero, and they are my best friend.
The bond that exist between brothers is one that, well it just can’t be broken.
As I have grown older I have watched my brothers become men of Integrity, and Honor.
Men who always demonstrate the highest levels of Honesty, Strength, Courage, and Heroism.
Men who have always been Larger than Life, and FAR Better than John Wayne, The Rock, or Hulk Hogan.
Men who dedicated their lives to their Family, always putting others before self.
I remember the days we shared as kids playing in the yard,
Chasing Lightening Bugs, playing TAG, Not IT, Red Rover, and even playing in the yard with a water hose or sprinklers if we had them.
I remember the summer nights of sneaking into the Drive Inn Movies in the trunk of a car,
Drive- In’s were based on the number of people INSIDE the car,
They never questioned the number INSIDE the Trunk!!!!!!!!
Oh by the way, that was before the seatbelt law!!!!!
Now don’t get me wrong,
Sometimes being the baby brother had its ups and downs and challenges.
As I have grown older,
I reflect back the on the knowledge and wisdom my older brothers had, and in most cases, proved to be correct.
I just regret I did not tell them enough how correct they were.
As my brothers look in the mirror, they still see the young strong Muscular, Athletic bodies they once had in earlier years,
Because of Time and Age and Unconditional Love they remain young at heart.
As I have grown older,
I have seen my brothers grow a little slower, a few pounds heavier, with a whole lot more grey thinning hair.
As I have grown older,
I have a better understanding and appreciation for the sacrifices they have made for Family and Country.
As I have grown older
I have a better understanding of their wants, and worries and unfulfilled dreams.
As I have grown older,
I have a better appreciation for the times we shared working together, inspiring me to Aim Higher and Go Further in life.
As I have grown older,
I have a better appreciation for their simple pleasures in life,
Hot Coffee, a warm bed, and the satisfaction of a lifetime of helping others, a lifetime of selflessness.
I love you So much
Dennis
