Dayton D Eden's Obituary
Dayton Dale Eden died March 30, 2016 at the age of 87. Born on May 7, 1928 in Fargo, North Dakota, he was raised in Minnesota where he developed his life-long love of nature. Dayton joined the Marines in the fall of 1946 and rose to the rank of sergeant in less than two years. He attended the University of Minnesota at Duluth and then went on to obtain his master’s degree and PHD in physics from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He was hired by Texas Instruments and moved to Dallas in 1960. Dayton enjoyed a long and accomplished career as a research physicist, retiring from Lockheed Martin in 1993. He had an active retirement during which he developed a millimeter wave sensing and imaging camera and wrote and published a book on its application as a means to counter terrorism. He enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren, and attended First Baptist Church of Dallas for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gloria, his sister Shirley Lennartson, his five children, Marcia Castro, Mona Brown, Helen Carona, Gina Bombere, and David Eden, their spouses, eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 2:30 PM in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
