Delbert Fields, age 88 of Rowlett, Texas passed away April 13, 2016. He was born on September 28, 1927 to Gilbert and Lena Hart Fields. Delbert Fields joined the Merchant Marines during WW II. He later joined the United States Army and was on the All Army Rifle Team. He loved serving his country. Between these two service times he traveled as an evangelist with the Musical Harts and many others. Later after the Army he moved back to Dallas and started the Fields Taping and Bedding business, later adding the first acoustical business to the area. Delbert and his brother, Jim, opened a construction business together and built several homes and businesses. At that time the Lord called him and Dot to open up Deeper Life Book Store, which was in business for 25 years. During that time they encountered many issues, one being the first to fly the Christian flag freely in the metroplex. After retirement Delbert and Dot continued to run Fields Engraving, which Dot will remain doing. Deeper Life was Delbert’s passion and ministry and many lifelong friends remain from those years. Delbert was a deacon for many years at Cornerstone Assembly of God. His special group of Pacesetters met in his home monthly. He also served on the board of Rowlett Christian Academy. Delbert’s interests included antiquing, hunting, fishing, camping with family and friends and also spending time with his family, which was his passion. He loved to talk and share Jesus with others. Once you met Delbert your life was changed by his witness. He was preceded in death by many other family members, friends, and his daughter, Toni Fields. He is survived by his loving wife, Dot Fields of 50 years, children: Cheri and Danny Coulon, Terri and Peter Schmidt, Helen Courrege and her fiancée’, Gary Bergman, and David and Debbie Fields. Grandchildren: David Coulon, Michael and Regan Coulon, Stephen and Heather Coulon, JD and Sarah Courrege, Natasha Courrege, Aaron Schmidt, Amber and Alan Birchmier, and Kylie Fields. Great-Grandchildren: Clayton Coulon, Henry Coulon, Francis Coulon, Aiden Butcher, and Jonah Courrege. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The visitation for Delbert Fields will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Cornerstone Assembly of God. The service for Delbert will be on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Cornerstone Assembly of God. Graveside service held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 18, 2016 at Restland Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
