Our beloved Donald D. Simmons died peacefully in his sleep in Dallas, Texas on March 2, 2023. He was 93 years old. Donald was born in Covington, Alabama on September 11, 1929, to William Erza Simmons and Maggie Bell Shehan. He att Read Obituary
We have fond memories of Don and Kitty on our trip to Italy with Msgr Don in 2006 and at many reunions up through 2022. We remember Don for his sense of humor and was a great guy to be around. We will miss him.

Dave & I loved Don and Kitty. Don always had a joke or two (with a number)! There would usually be a groan and he would tell it anyway and everyone would always laugh. I will miss you my friend. Kitty and family you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Uncle Donald loved peas, not just any pea, pink eyed purple hull peas. I always made sure to cook him a batch with my pone corn bread when he could come for a visit. He, Daddy and Uncle Danny kept us laughing around the table. Even growing up I remember our Granny Simmons making peas for him. Those were wonderful times we had together. Don and Kitty were instrumental in my joining the Texas Reeler square dance club. I will always remember their friendship. Don kept us going by publishing our newsletter once a month for many years. Sara Smith

I did not know Donald, but I do know his son Dennis. He is an amazing neighbor and friend. Donald must’ve been quite a chivalrous man.
