Dora L Alonzo, born in Dallas February 26, 1927, went to heaven to be with our Lord May 27, 2016. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Alonzo, and her son Joe Rodriguez Jr; her parents Julian and Augustina Lopez; her siblings Patrice, Tommie, Jessie, Mary and Joe; and her grandson Joey. She is survived by her daughter Sandy Stillwell; her two sisters Julia Martinez and Mary “Cookie” Luna; grandkids Mark Rodriguez, Nina Stillwell and Desiree Stillwell; great grandkids Jenny Rodriguez and Lauren Rodriguez; and great great grandchild Christian Garza; and many nieces and nephews. Dora, a lifelong Dallasite, was a wonderful wife and mother. She and her husband David, who served in the Korean War, were active members and volunteers at VFW Post 7471. Dora was a hard worker–in fact, she held down a steady job until she was in her early eighties. You could say work was a family affair. Early on, she and her sisters got jobs at a local tomato factory. Later she and her sister Mary worked together at Bunn Specialty a printing company on Dragon Street, then from there she moved on to work at performance specialty a die-cutting company and most recently worked at Ronald McDonald House with Sisters Julia and Cookie. Besides being a hard worker, her and her husband David were always on the go, living life to the fullest whether it was helping volunteer, or fun family vacations and of course the occasional trip to the casino with her sisters, Dora made an impact on everyone she met, loving and giving, she loved when company would stay over friends or family she would always wake up early and make a big breakfast for everyone to enjoy, but most of all she loved her family, and she will truly be missed every day… The visitation for Dora Alonzo will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, June 2, 2016 in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home with a Rosary from 7:00 to 7:30 PM. The service for Dora will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 3, 2016 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
