Dorine Underwood's Obituary
December 20, 1936 – June 9, 2025
Dorine Underwood (known to most as Doe Doe), age 88, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025. Born on December 20, 1936, she lived a life filled with love, faith, and dedication to her family and community.
Dorine was first married to J.W. Dowlen, who preceded her in death in 1981. She later married Jim Underwood, who also preceded her in death in 2022.
She worked for many years at Stroud Bank and later moved to Gunter, Texas, in 1969. Dorine retired in 1998 from Hilltop Haven, where she served faithfully as a bookkeeper.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Rhea Dowlen; her cherished grandson, Tuff Dowlen; and her brother and sister-in-law, L.D. and Sue Byrd. Dorine also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, including Linda, Anita, Jeff, Julie, Derrick, Jennifer and Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Ray Vickrey; her sister and brother-in-law, Louis and Harold Stiner; niece Brenda, and her parents, L.D. and Betty Byrd.
Dorine enjoyed walking, traveling, and participating in her local homeowners association. A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, she loved the Lord with all her heart and lived her faith daily. Her greatest joy was her family, whom she loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local Church of Christ or a charity of your choice in Dorine’s memory.
