Dorothy Marie Leeman's Obituary
Dorothy Marie Barnes-Leeman passed away in Austin, Texas on Monday September 22, 2014. Mrs. Leeman was 89. She was the youngest of nine children and grew up on a farm in east Plano. She graduated from Plano High School and completed business school in Dallas, Texas. In 1945 she married Sam P. Leeman and lived in Dallas until moving to Austin in 2006 to be closer to her family. Throughout her life, Dorothy focused her attention on her faith in God and love for her family. She was an active member of the Skillman Avenue Church of Christ for over 50 years. Mrs. Leeman is survived by her daughter, Linda K. Skeen (William C. Skeen) of Austin; son, William P. “Bill” Leeman” (Constance “Connie” J. Burke) of Santa Fe, New Mexico; brother, J.K. “Red” Barnes (Yvonne Barnes), Garland, Texas; grandson, William C. Skeen, Jr. (Holly Skeen); granddaughter, Michelle D. James (Brad James); grandson, Christopher Burke Leeman; great-grandsons, William C. Skeen III, Jackson Robert Skeen James, Ian Prescott James, and Wyatt William James all living in Austin. With nine brothers and sisters, Mrs. Leeman has a substantial extended family including many Barnes nieces and nephews. Mrs. Leeman was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sam P. Leeman and son, James Lynn Leeman. Mrs. Leeman was better known as “Dot” to her friends and “Mimi” to her grandchildren. Her devotion to her family and especially to her grandchildren was exemplary. After the passing of her husband Sam in 1975, her days were spent around church, family and friends. She graced their lives and she will be missed dearly by all. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, in memory of Dorothy B. Leeman. The graveside services for Dorothy Leeman will be held at Restland Memorial Park on Tuesday September 30, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75238.
