Douglass Reynolds' Obituary
Douglass Reynolds, 75, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, to James and Gertrude (Vinton) Reynolds, Doug lived a life marked by faith, creativity, and devotion to his family.
An Eagle Scout and proud graduate of Hall High School in Little Rock, Doug went on to earn his degree from Arkansas State University. In 1970, he married Donna (Barclay) and soon thereafter moved to Dallas to begin a distinguished career at Channel 8, starting as a cameraman and rising to the role of producer. In the 1980s, he produced films & commercials for the Southland Corporation & Group Seven Productions before founding his own successful TV and film production business in the 1990s. Later, Doug transitioned into residential remodeling, bringing his creative vision to homes across Dallas.
Doug’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He gave his life to Jesus at an early age and was actively involved with Campus Crusade for Christ for many years. As a dedicated member and elder of Fellowship Bible Church of Dallas, he touched countless lives with his kindness and steadfast commitment to his beliefs.
An avid outdoorsman, Doug cherished sailing on Lake Texoma and hunting and fishing in his native Arkansas. He also enjoyed all things automotive, from Formula One and Sports Car Club of America races to riding motorcycles. His adventurous spirit and love for nature were matched only by his love for his family.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Roth; his loving former wife and the mother of his children, Donna Reynolds; his daughter, Heather Williams of Frisco, Texas, and her children, Halle, Cason, and Harper; his son, Joshua Reynolds, and his wife, Beth, of Larchmont, New York, and their children, Lilly Anna, Eloise, and Cooper; his stepdaughter, Avery Elander, and her husband, Garrett, of Fort Worth, Texas and their children Alice and Clark; his stepson, Evan Roth, and his wife, Kat, of Denton, Texas and their children Cashel and Asher; and his nieces, Debra Finley and Karen Kerr.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Carlton, and Carlton’s wife, Jo. A special thank you to his caregivers Stella, Rose, Marie and Robert who compassionately cared for him in his final months.
Doug’s legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at Restland Funeral Home of Dallas on Friday, May 23rd in the Memorial Chapel. Donations may be made in Doug’s honor to CurePSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) to help fund research for the disease he battled. (www.psp.org)
